Life Sciences Building (Main Campus)
Specialized equipment includes automated instruments for oligonucleotide synthesis, DNA sequencing, peptide synthesis, and molecular seperations, from small molecules to protein complexes. Also available are sophisticated equipment for spectrophotometry, sequence analysis, and image manipulation. The Integrated Microscopy Center, a University facility occupying almost 3,000 square feet, houses a confocal laser scanning microscope, scanning and transmission electron microscopes, and fluorescence microscopes. A Balzers high-pressure freezer and a freeze substitution unit that allows nonchemical preparation of samples for electron microscopy, several microtomes and ultramicrotomes, a frozen thin sectioning device, and ancillary equipment are also available. Ample greenhouse facilities and a modern Animal Care Facility are available.
