Microbial genetics and molecular biology are used to understand photosynthetic light absorption and nitrogen assimilation, especially nitrogen fixation, in cyanobacteria. A by-product of this work was the development of a genetically engineered mosquitocidal cyanobacterium. Further, I am interested in the motility and differentiation of a thermophilic cyanobacterium.
